This may be the first chant on the 2013 Kirtan Album.  After mixing, over-dubbing and mastering, it will sound even better!

What a blessing to play for a very appreciative group of about 25 men and women.  Robert's songs touched a few of the guests to the point of tears, and the hour was so very heart-felt and inspiring.  Thank you to Sharon at Helping Hands for the opportunity.

We Are Producing a Kirtan Album!!

Posted by Robert Kelaghan on August 30, 2013 at 4:50 PM Comments comments (0)

As of the end of August 2013, we completed negotiations to start production of a new Kirtan album. We are happy to announce we will start recording at SunSound Studios in Grass Valley, CA by mid-October 2013.

The album will feature Robert's original chant music, blending of Eastern and Western sacred lyrics, most of it performed by his kirtan bands over the last 15 years or so.  None of his chants have been recorded thus far, so this is part one of a culmination of a life's dream to share this music with a wider audience.  The dream has always been to share both "spirited" and soulful music to help people create deeply meaningful connections with each other and with their Source.

It is exciting to bring this dream to reality.  Part of the fun is selecting instrumentation and voices that compliment the feeling of each chant.  We will be inviting musicians to share their talents in addition to Robert's rhythm guitar and harmonium, with lead and bass guitar, flute, violin, percussion (including tablas), and perhaps a few Indian and Asian-inspired instruments.  Our goal is to produce a top quality album that demonstrates the quality of the music and lyrics.

For the short term, once we have two or three chants recorded, we will feature them in some way on this website, perhaps in conjunction with video of the recordings and interviews with Robert about his life's work and music.

We are extremely grateful to those that have generously donated to the birth of this album with their voices, musical talents, money, and blessings.

We will be announcing a crowd-funding platform to help with the production costs and marketing of the album;  In the meantime if you would like to donate to our 2013 Kirtan Album (title is pending), no amount is too small, and very easy to do.  Just click on the DONATE button located on the right sidebar of each page of this website.
